ZF wanted to create a new SaaS offering for logistics fleets that would allow them to follow their vehicles’ fuel consumption. The Fuel Compass application would need to compare formal refueling events based on transaction data reported at the fuel station with the evolution of fuel data from the vehicles to measure fuel consumption and identify anomalies.
They received a large quantity of data related to fuel levels but the data was very noisy and it was difficult to determine what constituted a refueling event based on the raw data.
Aloalto set up an ETL pipeline to ingest, clean and enrich telematics data coming from the vehicle’s on board computers and trained a model to determine when a refueling event took place and the amount of fuel that was tanked.
ZF was able to ship the Fuel Compass application with this algorithm as one of its main features.
