Traffic offender tracking

VIAS

VIAS Institute (the Belgian institute for road safety) wanted to set up a new application to track repeat traffic offenders in order to provide them with psychological coaching as an alternative to fines.

Task

The solution required a hardware component and a software component. A cheap hardware device needed to be found that could easily be installed on the drivers’ vehicles, and a web application needed to be built to follow and evaluate driver behaviour.

Action

Aloalto partnered with Mobile Devices to leverage IoT dongles and the Munic.io platform to provide hardware, connectivity and API access to the IoT data. Aloalto then developed a Serverless web application hosted on Amazon Web Services complete with a cartographic interface and graphs displaying overspeeding and harsh braking/acceleration events.

Result

Following the delivery of the project VIAS had an application on hand that it leveraged beyond repeat traffic offenders to also evaluate the timing and propensity to do traffic offenses by volunteer firefighters.

Together, we can refine your data strategy and ensure its rapid implementation.
